GoalBit Platform Professional Edition is distributed under the GNU Affero General Public License (GPL) version 3. If the AGPLv3 license is not appropriated for you, we offer an alternative Commercial License.
The dual license approach is common with commercial open source software. Which edition is right for you depends on your needs and usage.
AGPLv3 License:
The AGPLv3 open source license allows you to use our platform at no charge under the condition that if you use GoalBit code in an application that you distribute or host, the complete source code for your application must be available and freely redistributable.
The most notable limitation is that if you change or add code to the platform, and you use the software as the basis of an Internet, hosted, SaaS or network-based service, you must publish your code or buy a Commercial License.
Commercial License:
If you plan to sell products based on the GoalBit Platform Professional Edition, there are significant advantages with obtaining a commercial license. If you like, you can modify or add code to GoalBit's software and incorporate the results into your own hosted, SaaS or network-based service, without the obligation of releasing the resulting source code as specified by the AGPL license. You and your customers benefit from a clear proprietary license, which provides legal protections that are not available under AGPL. Finally, you also have the assurance that the GoalBit software in your product is backed by our technical support team.
